So What the Hell is "Rush?"

Rush is the bi-annual recruiting event that all Georgia Tech fraternities and sororities participate in. It is a week long event where fraternities get out and about on campus and encourage new tech students to come check out their fraternity (or sorority).

Where are you?

If you are walking North on Techwood, away from North Avenue, after you cross fifth street (the road to Tech square) we are the secound house on the right.
Or if you prefer Google maps click here.

What does it mean if I get a "bid"?

A bid is a packet of information that we might choose to give you. It means that we think you're awesome, and we want you to become a pledge at our fraternity and hopefully a full-fledged brother.

What does it mean to pledge?

To become a pledge at a fraternity means that you want to become a member of that fratnerity. The pledge process at Psi Upsilon is a semester long process in which you must complete the requirments of a pledge and then you will be elligible for initiation into the fraternity.

What are the pledge requirements?

There are requirements to complete your pledgeship:

1) Complete a pledge paddle and get it signed by all active brothers
2) Plan and participate in a pledge party and pledge project
3) Attend the pledge outting (camping trip)
4) Attend weekly Pledge-Education at the Psi Upsilon House
5) Pay your initiation fees

Is there any type of commitment involve in being a pledge?

Nope, you can leave any time.

What makes you guys different from all the other fraternities?

What sets Psi Upsilon apart from all the other fraternities on Georgia Tech Campus is that we don't conform to societal norms, nor do we care. We're a group of miscreants, weirdos, nerds, gamers, musicians, and awesome. We are the most diverse social fraternity on campus. WE'RE CO-ED. That's right; we are a co-ed fraternity. Both men and women are more than welcome at our fraternity. Psi Upsilon is really the polar opposite of what you are probably expecting from a "fraternity". We don't care if you're from a rich family; we don't care if you've got blue hair; we don't care if you spend all your time playing WoW. As long as you're interesting, we're glad to have you around.

Wait you're Co-Ed... like with girls?

Yes, we have girls. We call them brothers. We know it's kinda weird, but you get used to it.

Are you going to haze me?

No, and there is a laundry list of reason why we never will:
1) No.
2) Why would someone want to be part of an organization that hazed them?
3) We cannot force you to stay, so why would anyone stay through hazing.
4) We are growing by leaps and bounds and that isn't really possible if an organization hazes its members.
5) Hazing pledges requires extra work from the Brothers, and we are WAY too lazy.
If you need any proof just get to know our Brotherhood and you will see that they are not the type of people who would haze or be hazed.

How many Brothers are there?

Once you're a Brother you're always a Brothers, so a whole lot. Currently there are 34 active Brothers (attending classes at Tech)

What do I have to do if I become a Brother?

You have to pay dues and attend a weekly meeting. We also have mandatory philanthropy, but we do that together and it's usually pretty fun.

Do I have to decide anything at Rush?

Nope, our bids are good for a year, so you have a full academic year to decide.

I have some more questions...

Just ask. We are more then happy to answer any questions. Feel free to email our rush chair here
